Learn recreational open water rowing from Rowing for All for a lifetime of fun and fitness. Rowing clinics for teens to active seniors; enjoy open water rowing from Little Harbor Boathouse along the spectacular New England Coast in Marblehead, Massachusetts.

Discover open water rowing: what many consider to be the ultimate body, mind, spirit sport on land or water! Recreational open water rowing is one of the fastest growing sports in America and for good reason!  Rowing is a low-impact sport ideally suited to teens, boomers and active seniors looking to burn up to 800 calories per hour from an exhilarating full-body, resistance and aerobic work-out. The gentle nature of the sport on the joints has many enthusiasts rowing well into their 80s.  Add rowing to the short list of ultimate life-time sports.

Rowing is a non-weight bearing exercise ideal for the serious runner, swimmer, biker looking for the optimum way to cross train (shed that last 10 stubborn pounds) or those of us who want to get back in shape no matter what.  You may have previous injuries or sensitive joints or more weight than you'd like.  Rowing incorporates strength training for the core, legs and upper-body and is a high-calorie burn.  Perfect for all ages and sizes -- whether you're 20 something and just out of a collegiate rowing experience or love the water and want a way to be on it. This sport is for everyone including and especially overweight, middle age or beyond. If being on the water, having fun and getting the best work-out available appeals to you -- Echo open water rowing is it!

Be happier, healthier, fitter!  Rowing!

Teen Program Hea
d Coach: James F. Keating
I started rowing at a very young age on the waters around Atlantic City, N.J.I say around Atlantic City because it is an island (Absecon Island). I was 16 years old when I had my first ocean race in heavy built lifeguard boats. During the same time I was introduced to sculling and with the help of many I was able to start schoolboy rowing at Atlantic City High School.?For the next 10 years every summer I would row the lifeguard boats in the ocean and the shells in the calmer waters in the back bay behind Atlantic City. During this time I won both single and double races in the lifeguard boats as well as rowing in every type of shell from singles, pairs, doubles, quads, fours, and eights.?After college I focused mainly on the single shell. My efforts have reaped rewards. I have rowed at the U.S. Nationals, Masters Nationals and World Masters. I am old enough to have competed in all three Henley Regattas (British, Canadian & American). I do not know if this can be duplicated because the American Henley is no longer held. I still compete in sprint racing in the summer and head racing in the Fall. Member: Union Boat Club | Men's Veteran (60-69) Singles; Head of the Housatonic 2009. This summer I will return to ocean racing, but not in lifeboats, rather in Echo Open Water Rowing Shells.

Above and beyond the
exhilarating full-body work-out and the big calorie burn supporting a significant weight release and maintenance -- open water rowing is about the experience of peace and power I experience with fluid stroke of my oars.   I've always been an active person and in rowing I've found a sport that brings me joy, strength and wellness for a lifetime!  I am looking forward to sharing my love of rowing with you.
